The largest château in the Loire Valley, begun by Francis I in 1519, with its famous double-helix staircase inspired by Leonardo da Vinci. Here you’ll find which Château de Chambord tickets to buy, the weather during opening hours, opening times and tips for your visit.
The ticket covers the château and the French formal gardens. You don’t need a guided tour: you explore at your own pace, with the optional HistoPad as a digital guide.
Official ticket – €31 for visitors from outside the European Economic Area, which includes the UK and the US (€21 for EEA citizens and residents). Free under 18. Buy it on the official Chambord website.
Entry ticket on Tiqets – same price (€31, or €21 for EEA visitors), with cancellation until 11:59 pm the day before.
Loire Valley château pass on Tiqets – from €52.50. Chambord, Chenonceau and a third château: Blois, Clos Lucé or Amboise.
Day trips from Paris on Tiqets – from €135. Return coach and entry to Chambord, Chenonceau and Cheverny in one day (€155 with audio guide, €185 with a live English-speaking guide).
Our pick: the Tiqets entry ticket, which costs the same as the official one but can be cancelled until the evening before. On a multi-château trip, the pass gets you Chenonceau too in one purchase.
Staying in Paris without a car? A day trip is the easiest option: three castles in one day, without juggling trains and shuttles. We recommend the audio guide version (€155), a good balance of price and commentary; the €135 trip suits you if you prefer to explore alone, and the €185 one if you want a live guide. Departure at 7:00 am, back in the evening, lunch not included.
HistoPad: the visitor tablet with 3D reconstructions of Chambord in the time of Francis I. Add it when you book; it’s especially good with kids.
